Ever since the conclusion of Obi-Wan Kenobi in 2022, viewers have been hopeful for a potential season 2, but Ewan McGregor's update on the next possible installment of the Star Wars TV show isn't promising. While Obi-Wan Kenobi was met with overall mixed reviews, viewers are still aching for more of McGregor as Obi-Wan, especially with Obi Wan Kenobi's ending that saw the return of Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn as a Force ghost. There are certainly more stories Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 could tell, but according to McGregor, this isn't likely to happen.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2: News, Updates, & Everything We Know
Is Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 happening? Here's everything we know about a potential second season starring Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan.In an interview with Variety, McGregor reveals that he "would love to do the second season, but there’s no talk of it yet." This is rather unsurprising, given the overall finality provided at the conclusion of Obi-Wan Kenobi season 1 as well as series director Deborah Chow insisting that despite McGregor's season 2 ideas, the TV show was originally conceived as a limited series. Still, both Chow herself and McGregor aren't discounting the possibility of season 2 happening, and McGregor has a good reason as to why season 2 isn't yet in development.
McGregor has attributed the slow-going process on Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 to "a lot going on at Disney," and he's not wrong. Lucasfilm has very recently announced The Mandalorian & Grogu movie in addition to development on both Rey's return in Star Wars: New Jedi Order and Ahsoka season 2. This is on top of this year's and next year's releases, including The Bad Batch season 3, The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, Tales of the Jedi season 2, and Andor season 2. Star Wars already has a plot on their plate, and Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 simply isn't a priority.
Will Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Ever Happen?

If Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 still isn't in development, then it seems unlikely that it will ever be made, though it's still not entirely out of the question. The biggest challenge against it, however, is its season 1 reception, one that was in some ways similar to The Book of Boba Fett - another Star Wars TV show that will most likely never earn a second season. McGregor's involvement in the series is a huge advantage for its future, but the ideas for Obi-Wan's next chapter would have to be very compelling to get approval this late in the game.
It's also important to note that Obi-Wan Kenobi never planned for more than the six episodes it's already created. Both Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett were built off of movie ideas for each respective character, which makes adding another chapter even more challenging for their series, their season 1 receptions aside. Unfortunately, then, it seems viewers can expect that Obi-Wan Kenobi will more than likely remain the limited single season series that it is, though McGregor's own desire to pursue season 2 can still keep a flicker of hope aflame.
